Douglas Beyer

Douglas Kalberg Beyer, 91, of Sioux Falls, SD (formerly Revillo, SD) passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Avantara Norton, Sioux Falls, SD. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Milbank, SD with Pastor Chris Davis officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.  Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery rural Albee, SD. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be at Emmanuel Lutheran fellowship hall.  Carlsen Funeral Home, Aberdeen, is handling funeral arrangements.  Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.aberdeenfuneralhome.com.

Douglas was born on September 11th, 1932, to Otto and Myrtle (Kalberg) Beyer of Revillo, SD where he also attended school. Douglas served as a Corporal in the Army where he fought in the Korean War. Douglas married the love of his life Norma Jean Street in August 4,1956 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Revillo, SD. Norma Jean and Douglas had five children.  He enjoyed living and raising his family on the farm he grew up on.

Douglas is survived by his children: Quentin (Rosalie) Beyer of Winona, MN, Kent Beyer of Brookings, SD; Lorraine Beyer of Sioux Falls, SD; Robert Beyer of Gillette, WY; Yvonne Beyer of Sioux Falls, SD. Grandchildren: Natasha Beyer (Hanh Vo), Dr. Amanda (Nick) Hoon, Joseph Beyer, Lillian Beyer and Jeromy Beyer. Great Grandchildren: Olivia, Emmett, Evelyn and Asher.  One brother: Sherman (Michelle) Beyer of Memphis, TN. 

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a sister, one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law. 

Memorials may be directed to Disabled Veterans (DAV) and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank, SD.
