Ashley, ND-Funeral service for Alvin Jacob Wacker, 87, of Ashley will be 10:30 am, Monday, October 9, 2017 at Salem Reformed Church in Ashley. Rev. David Irwin will officiate.

Burial will be in Ashley City Cemetery with military honors.

There will be visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Alvin died Monday, October 2, 2017 at Ashley Medical Center.

Alvin Jacob Wacker, son of Arthur and Emma (Dockter) Wacker was born January 23, 1930 on the family farm in Wacker Township, McPherson County, SD. He grew up on the family farm and attended Wacker Township country school. Alvin continued to work on the farm until he was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After basic training at Fort Eustis, Virginia, Alvin worked in the railway section. Following his honorable discharge in 1952, he returned home and continued working on the family farm.

On April 30, 1961, Alvin was united in marriage to Alma Bender at the Reformed Church in Leola, SD. They continued to farm until 1991 when they moved to Ashley, ND. Alvin then went to work for McIntosh County in the road department until his retirement in 2000.

Alvin was a member of Salem Reformed Church and Frank Piper American Legion Post #53. In their free time, he and Alma enjoyed dancing.

Grateful for having shared Alvin’s life are his wife of 56 years, Alma, of Ashley; sister, Luella Hauck of Coeur d’Alene, ID; sisters-in-law, Aldora (LeRoy) Heil of Ashley and Alice (Johnny) Bender of Ashely; brother-in-law, Alvin Bender of Ashley and five nephews and two nieces.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Irvin Hauck.

Casketbearers will be Tracy Heil, Timothy Heil, Jonathan Bender, Dwight Hauck, Mike Pfeifle, Scott Roach, Ronnie Ehresman and Dean Butler.

Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
