I am sad for you, my Hettinger family friends. I am happy for Jesus and Jane to be welcoming Artie home. I remember him as loving Bethlehem Lutheran Church and all the friends he had there. He always seemed to love spending time helping with some project with his friends. I still remember how happy he and your family were on his confirmation day. God is so good and may he comfort you all with peace and joy. Your love and fun with Artie was a great inspiration and ministry to others.

What an awesome individual this man was and forever will be. Heaven has gained a beautiful Angel up there with his Mother. I extend my thoughts, prayers, and sympathy to his family. God Bless Art Hettinger.

  8. Jim Johnson says:

I am so very sorry to hear about his passing. This past weekend we had a family reunion and we just so happened to be talking about Art.
I was telling the family how he was always so full of life and how excited he was about the things that we normally take for granted. One memory in particular was when Art got his first paycheck. He was running up and down the street swinging that paycheck over his head to find anybody to help him share in his excitement!!!

“Fatso” and the rest of the Johnson family will truly miss him…

    Jim (AKA Fatso)

  9. Luanne Erickson says:

How saddened I was to hear of Art passing away. He really left me with wonderful lasting memories. He was so loved by his entire family, Duane, Wendy and Willie. I am comforted knowing he is ONCE again with Janie. Just know that I send my love and sympathy to all of you. MUCH love, Luanne

  10. Don Jones says:

My condolences and prayers to the Hettinger family. I remember having fun horsing around with Artie and Ricky Wolf at Willie and Dan’s wrestling matches when we were kids. Nice memories.

  11. Dave Henley says:

His work at the food court was an inspiration. Another memory I have is when Art stopped at our house to show us a medal he had won at Special Olympics. I was young and it showed me what incredibly important and worthy cause it is. Art had a very good life because he had a great family.

  12. I am so sorry to read of Art’s passing…made me really sad to read of this. I remember Art as a little boy when his sister, Wendy, would bring him to the Southside Swimming Pool in Aberdeen, SD, where I was a lifeguard. Art would always swim around my lifeguard post so I could keep an eye on him and he would “show off” for me! We became good buddies over many summers back in the 1970’s. Art touched many hearts during his life. Such a precious gift to all of us! He may be gone but he will never be forgotten!
