Aberdeen, SD-Funeral service for Florence Marzolf, 91, of Aberdeen will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. The Rev. Marcia Sylvester will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

There will be a prayer service at 6:00 pm Friday with visitation from 3:00-6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Florence died April 7, 2018 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

Florence Frances Kautz, daughter of Henry and Helen (Diede) Kautz was born July 15, 1926 in Danzig, ND. She grew up on the family farm where she helped with farmyard chores caring for the chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys. The turkeys were her favorites. Florence attended country school.

Florence was united in marriage to Ervin Wallen Marzolf on November 26, 1947 at Ashley after he returned from World War II. They moved to Aberdeen. She worked at Tiffany Laundry where she was a machine operator and later she sold Avon Products. Florence began working at Control Data as an assembler where she retired after 18 years.

Florence enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables. She looked forward to family functions at her home. When she was young, she enjoyed family sing-alongs with her sisters. She canned and made chokecherry jelly and was an excellent German cook. Florence was always a willing volunteer to make quilts and kuchen for her church bazaar. She also enjoyed embroidery and quilting. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always cherish the jean quilts that they received from her.

Florence was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a former Loyal Order of Moose member.

Grateful for having shared Florence’s life is her daughter, Fern (Robert) Sanders of Aberdeen; grandsons, Paul (Hilary) Sanders of Idaho Falls, ID and James (Alissa) Sanders of Blaine, MN; granddaughter, Erin (Ben) Roselle of Maple Grove, MN; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mavis Erlenbusch of Ashley and brother-in-law, Milton Baumann of Ashley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (1-3-2013), sister, Darlene Baumann (12-7-2017), sister-in-law, Florence Golz, five brothers-in-law, Lloyd Erlenbusch, Rudy Golz, Walter Marzolf, Andrew Duttenhoffer and Alvin Marzolf and niece, Marsha Erlenbusch.

Honorary Casketbearers will be the Staff of Avera Mother Joseph Manor.

Casketbearers will be Lyle Fey, Allen Baumann, Jerry Swenson, Max Sanders, Paul Sanders and Jim Sanders.

Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.

    Fern and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. She was always so friendly at the nursing home when I would come and see my mom. I will miss seeing her there. Treasure your memories!
