Groton, SD-Memorial service for Terry Neal Thoreson, 51, of Groton will be 11:00 am, Thursday, July 5, 2012 at New Life Fellowship in Aberdeen. Pastor Rod Johnson will officiate.
Burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Terry died June 30, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Groton following a courageous two and a half year battle with leukemia.
Terry, son of Jerry Neal and Marilyn (Neff) Thoreson was born March 26, 1961 in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up in Groton and later worked at various jobs in eastern North Dakota and for the past several years in the Grand Forks area as a mechanic.
Terry was always willing to help his neighbors. He loved his nieces and nephews very much. His constant companion was his dog, Jake and he was also an animal lover. Terry liked to fish and work on cars. He enjoyed BMX racing. Bird watching was an enjoyable pastime for him while a resident in the nursing home.
Terry is survived by his mother, Marilyn Thoreson, brother, Tim (Diane) Thoreson, sisters, Debora Graves and Lisa Wagemann, all of Aberdeen, son, Derek Thoreson of Grand Forks, ND and his best friend, his dog Jake.
He was preceded in death by his father and one infant sister, Diane.
Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Such fun memories with the Thoreson’ living next to Grandma Dode and then keeping in touch as you moved to Groton and Aberdeen. Peace and grace……
Marilyn, I was saddened to hear of Terry’s illness and death. It is obvious that we lost much of our connections when Jerry passed away. Too often we let the days/years go by and often think, “Maybe tomorrow”.
May His understanding, friends and family bring you comfort as you move through these difficult times.
