Terry Lee Pudwill

Leola, SD-Funeral Service for Terry Lee Pudwill, 66, of Leola will be 1:00 pm, Friday, June 25, 2021 at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory. Pastor Judy Schultz will officiate. The service will be live streamed and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Terry’s obituary.

The prayer service will be Thursday, June 24th at 7:00 pm with visitation from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery, Leola with military graveside rites at a later date.

Terry died June 16, 2021 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Terry was born April 16, 1955, to Donald “Boots” and Glenda (Huber) Pudwill in Mobridge SD. After the death of his paternal father, Terry and his two brothers were adopted by Chester Salzer and moved with his family to a farm homestead northeast of Leola, SD. Terry attended school in Leola. He also served in the United States Navy where he worked on ships as a diesel mechanic. After his honorable discharge Terry worked in the construction industry for many years.

He was united in marriage to Verna Cummins on September 25, 1982, in Albany, Missouri. They made their home northeast of Leola. He then started Pudwill Construction as a self-employed contractor and also farmed and raised feeder cattle. Their son, Aaron Lee, was born on September 10, 1982, and passed away shortly after birth. Their son, TJ Pudwill, was born July 27, 1983.

Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling, most recently to Belize. He was working on developing a program for wounded veterans to travel to Belize to go on fishing trips. He also liked going to the YMCA. Terry was a die-hard Republican. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, attending many races. He once drove an official race car.

Terry is survived by his son, TJ (Ginger) Pudwill, Odessa, TX; mother, Glenda Salzer, Leola; brothers, Don (Joan) Pudwill, Leola, Scott (Tammy) Salzer, Rosholt, SD, and Steve (Ann) Salzer, Aberdeen, SD and ten nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his paternal father, Donald Pudwill, stepfather, Chester Salzer, infant son, Aaron Lee, and brother DuWayne Pudwill.

Honorary Casketbearers will be his family in Belize, Jason Gill, and Lyle Schumack.
