Adeline died August 27, 2020 at Ashley Medical Center.
Adeline was born January 11, 1923 to Jacob Adam and Katherine (Ladner) Bertsch south of Venturia, ND in McPherson County, SD. She was raised and educated in McPherson County.
She was united in marriage to Adolph S. Heupel on December 9, 1945 at the Bertsch Station south of Venturia. They farmed for two years northeast of Eureka, then for another two years southeast of Eureka. In 1949, they moved to the homestead and spent the next 32 years engaged in farming. Together, they raised their family with strong values. In 1981 they retired and moved to Bismarck, ND. Just days short of 53 years together, Adolph died December 6, 1998.
Adeline was a member of Ashley Baptist Church and a former member of Venturia Baptist Church and Bismarck Baptist Church. She had taught Sunday school, and in Bismarck participated with the Senior Citizens group where she sang in the choir and was a past member and President of Women's Mission Organization. She enjoyed many pastime activities such as fishing, swimming, and playing table games such as Skippo. Her multitude of craft creations found their way to craft sales. She made many dolls, ceramics and greeting cards, produced many macramé projects, and stitched Quillos, but perhaps was most gifted when it came to plastic canvas projects.
This gracious, kind lady will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Grateful for having shared Adeline's life are her son, James (Donna) Heupel of Ashley; daughter, Grace (Douglas) Goltz of Springside, Saskatchewan, Canada; and three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Eric (Laurie) Heupel and children, Lindsey, Austin and Annalie Heupel, Kendra Goltz (Kane McAffer) and children, Lylah, Jack, Nola and Henry McAffer and Mathew Goltz and children, Ashlyn and Joie Ross.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Adolph, great-grandson, Christopher Heupel, three brothers, August, Albert, and Berthold Bertsch, two infant brothers and four sisters, Ernestine Haas, Theresa Heupel, Ida Goehring and Martha Bertsch.
