Anna passed peacefully and surrounded by family, on January 23, 2022, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Anna, daughter of Adam and Lydia (Weisenburger) Schnable was born February 26, 1914, on the family farm five miles south of Venturia, ND. She attended grade school at Lowell School District #21 through sixth grade. She spoke fondly of growing up on the farm, working, playing and spending time with her siblings.

Anna was united in marriage to Christian “Christ” Rott on September 14, 1936, in Leola, SD and made their home in Ashley, ND. They were blessed with three children, Lucille (1936), Donald (1943) and Charles (1945). Christ and Anna collected antiques over the years that filled a quonset, a garage large enough for twelve vehicles, and a generous portion of their home. They spent many hours caring for and showcasing the antiques which included: vehicles, pitcher and bowl sets, clocks, stoves, lamps, glassware, guns, organs, and furniture. Her husband, Christ died November 27, 1980, after 44 years of marriage.

Anna’s home was a welcoming place to gather, always ready to host with coffee and kuchen. She was a hard worker, anything that needed to be done she happily did without complaint. Anna was the original pioneer woman. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, sewing, making pillows and hassocks, cooking and baking. Anna’s favorite pastimes included spending time with her three generations of grandchildren, playing aggravation, and polka music.

Over the course of her full life, Anna persevered through the loss of many loved ones, including her children. At the age of 101, Anna moved to Aberdeen to live with her granddaughter Brenda and her husband. At 102 years old, Anna moved into Bethesda Towne Square Assisted Living where she continued to be self-reliant and socialized with friends and family. At the age of 105, Anna transitioned to Bethesda Nursing Home where she enjoyed playing bingo, crafting, and family outings.

Anna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley and attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.

Grateful for having shared Anna’s life are her four grandchildren, Brenda (Lonny) Bahr of Aberdeen, Liza (Don) Tavares of Henderson, CO, Lorelie (Lindsey) Purcell of Cortez, FL and Brian (Amanda) Rott of Fargo, ND; seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee (Josh) VanLaecken, Kelsey Bahr, Kristyn (Tyler) Hagen, Lindsey Tavares, Braedon Tavares, Jackson Rott and Kelsey (Brock) McCellan and four great-great-grandchildren, Will, Anna, Julia and Rowan.

Anna has one surviving sister-in-law, Janice (Lawrence) Schnabel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children, Werner Glaesmann (son-in-law) and eight siblings, Ted (infancy) Edmund (Mary), Esther (Ted), Emelia (John), Bertha (Harold), Lawrence, Walter (Frieda), and Lydia (infancy).

Honorary Casketbearers are Anna’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
