Carol A. Frigen

Monango, ND-Memorial Service for Carol Ann Frigen, 78, of Monango will be 10:00 am, Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ellendale. Rev. Paul O.S. Preus will officiate. The service will be live streamed and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Carol’s obituary.

Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Monango in Spring 2022.

There will be a prayer service Friday at 6:30 pm with visitation from 5:30-6:30 pm at the funeral home.

Carol died January 7, 2022, at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center. Carol Ann, daughter of Ernest and Esther (Wageman) Dockter was born August 16, 1943, in Leola, SD. She grew up east of Long Lake, SD on the family ranch. She began her schooling in a country school, graduating from Ellendale High School with the class of 1962. She worked for her father on the ranch and at Randall’s Grocery in Ellendale.

Carol was united in marriage to Donald Frigen on June 4, 1965, in St. James Lutheran Church in Leola, SD. They made their home on Donald’s farm near Monango, where they milked cows for 22 years and were grain farmers and later raised beef cattle and sheep. They retired from farming in 1995 and from their cattle operation in 2019. From 1997-2009, Carol worked as a custodian for Ellendale Public Schools and from 2010-2019, she worked at Harvest Gardens in Ellendale.

Carol loved flowers, especially roses and at one time she had 70 rose bushes she tended too. She also enjoyed caring for small animals and playing pinochle. Children held a warm spot in her heart, and she loved her grandchildren with every ounce of her heart.

Carol was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a life-long Lutheran. She was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monango where she had taught Sunday school. Carol also was a former member of the Monango History Book Committee.

Grateful for having shared Carol’s life are her husband, Donald; daughters, Nickie Gregg of Ellendale, and Jennifer (Chad) Eckhardt of Junction City, WI; four grandchildren, Jacob Holzer, Porter Gregg, and Marisa and Caitlin Eckhardt; sister, Jackie (Ron) Stoddard of Stirum, ND and brother, Neil (Marsha) Dockter of West Fargo, ND.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Marvin Dockter and Myron Dockter.

Honorary Urnbearers will be Carol’s four grandchildren.

Urnbearer will be David Kinzler.
