Obituary

Cinchona “Connie” Leona (Brosy) Bader, 80, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, while in hospice care at Aberdeen Health and Rehab facility.

Connie’s wishes were to be cremated and to have a small, private, family and friends graveside service. Cards and memorials may be sent to Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1708 8th Ave NE, Aberdeen, SD.

Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.  Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.carlsenfh.com.

Cinchona Leona Brosy was born July 15, 1942, to Otto and Christina (Eisenbeis) Brosy in Wishek, ND.

Connie liked to visit with people, had the “gift to gab,” and had a deep love for children. She babysat many children of friends or neighbors, had a daycare for many years and several kids still all call her “Grandma Connie.” She worked at Ken’s Fairway Bakery, Kessler’s checkouts for many years, and she worked at Lincoln Elementary School as a Special Education Class Aide and Crossing Guard Patrol on the U.S. Hwy Corner crosswalk.

Connie loved to bake, cook, and enjoyed a large array of crafts. She volunteered with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts when her children were little. She enjoyed spending lots of time with her grandchildren, attending most of their sporting events and school functions. Connie loved her times with her great-grandson and was looking forward to meeting her future great-granddaughter in September.

Grateful for having shared Connie’s life are her three children: Kym Bader, Scott (Tammie) Bader, and Dan Bader, all of Aberdeen; grandchildren: Dylan (Faith) Bader of Sioux Falls, SD, Angela Bader, and Dawson Anderson, both of Aberdeen; great-grandson, Braylin Scott Bader; and her exciting great-granddaughter, due in September; two sisters: Ellie Heintzman of Aberdeen, SD, and Delores Kunts of Garden Grove, CA; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law Larry Heintzman and Roy “Sonny” Kuntz; and two daughters, Shawn Marie Bader and Shelley Rae Bader.
