Clarence was born August 23, 1948, to James and Evelyn (Zerbel) Thiery at Aberdeen, SD. This is where he grew up attending Aberdeen Public Schools, graduating from Central High School.
He was united in marriage to Judy Reich on November 3, 1967, in Berlin Baptist Church near Fredonia, ND. He worked at Hub City Iron Store for several years. They moved to Groton where he worked at Pioneer Ford for a few years. They then moved to Kulm, ND where he owned and operated his own auto repair shop and satellite repair shop. In 1986, their family moved to Ashley, ND where they purchased the Drive-Inn and operated that until 1998. Clarence then worked at Fargo Assembly in Lehr, ND and later as a partsman at Pfeifle Chevrolet in Wishek, ND. In 2000, he and his son, Kyle, started Thiery Construction in Ashley where he worked until 2013. In 2015, Clarence began working at Northern Plains Coop where he remained until spring 2021.
Clarence loved stock car racing. Over the years, he raced his 1957 Chevy in Wishek, ND and Aberdeen and Watertown, SD. Clarence was a member of Ashley Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and playing cards. In the last few years, he really enjoyed genealogy. Clarence’s happy time was when he was with his family. Those memories will always be cherished by his family.
