Ashley, ND-Funeral Service for Darcie Jo Shannon, 54, of Ashley will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. Rev. Brian Knutson will officiate. The service will be live streamed and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Darcie's obituary.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Darcie died August 5, 2020 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
Darcie Jo Pfeifle was born April 13, 1966 to Robert and Lucille (Gross) Pfeifle at Ashley, ND. She attended Ashley Public School, graduating with the class of 1984.
She was united in marriage to Jeff Shannon on December 22, 1984. She then attended Bismarck State College, graduating in 1986. Jeff was in the United States Army and they traveled and lived in military stations over the next ten years. They made their home in Mainz, Germany and while there they were able to travel Europe. They were also stationed in Georgia, California, and Louisiana. In 1993, they returned to Ashley and purchased the Ash Theatre, Ashley Laundromat and she operated Darcie's Daycare. Darcie was unable to work the past ten years due to failing health because of Diabetes.
Darcie was very patriotic, always using red, white, and blue decorations. She was an excellent cake decorator and collected salt and pepper shakers. At night she loved to star gaze. Darcie enjoyed the Hallmark Channel on television and reading romance novels. She had become an avid shopper seeking good deals and treasures. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Grateful for having shared Darcie's life are her daughters, Samantha (Darryn Tank) Braun of Groton, SD and Valentina (Justin) Ertz of Aberdeen, SD; father, Robert Pfeifle of Ashley; two sisters, Gail McDaniel of Spearfish, SD and Twila (Gerrit) Van Boven of Belle Fourche, SD and one brother, Michael (Linda) Pfeifle of Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Casketbearers will be Christopher Pfeifle, Sara Pfeifle, Renee Schumacher, Donald Klumb, Abby Ketterling and Kayla Bubach.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to American Diabetes Association.
Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
