Darlis died August 31, 2021, at Prairie Heights Healthcare.

Darlis Ann was born February 15, 1941, to Lloyd and Deloris (Kindelspire) Bain on the family farm nine miles northeast of Leola, SD. She attended country grade school at Weber Township, McPherson County, SD, graduating from Leola High School with the class of 1959. Darlis then attended Gale Institute in Minneapolis for airline training but never pursued that field because she didn’t want to move to the bigger cities.

Darlis was united in marriage to Lyle G. Weiszhaar on October 6, 1963, in St. James Lutheran Church in Leola. They made their home in Aberdeen, SD. She worked for five years for K.O. Lee Company, then chose to stay home to raise her boys for a few years. After the boys started school, she began working at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church as a secretary for 16 years. She was involved with church circle and Sunday School.

Darlis and Lyle moved to Minot, ND on February 1, 1989, where Lyle worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She worked as Church Secretary at Christ Lutheran Church in Minot for three years. She then was employed at Minot Daily News for five years and at Medical Arts Clinic for seven years as a lab clerk before retiring. In Minot, Darlis was active in Christ Lutheran Women’s organization as President of General Assembly, treasurer, secretary, and circle chairwoman. She did volunteer work at the church, ushered, was a greeter, did home communion, worked in the library and was a member of several boards.

Darlis and Lyle returned to Aberdeen on October 28, 2011. They joined Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and volunteered when needed. She was a member of American Diabetes Association and past Leola Legion Auxiliary.

Darlis loved to read, golf, bake, make jewelry, prayer shawls and embroider. They also loved to travel together.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 57 years, Lyle; two sons, Scott (Barbara) Weiszhaar of Plano, TX, and Boyd Weiszhaar of Aberdeen and three grandchildren, Seth, Colton, and Marissa Weiszhaar.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Duane Bain.

Casketbearers will be Colton Weiszhaar, Jim Bain, David Bain, Bruce Geffre and Wade Weiszhaar.

The family prefers memorials to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Foundation Fund or to whomever the donor chooses.
