Dennis Wayne Day

Aberdeen, SD-Memorial Service for Dennis Wayne Day, 72, of Aberdeen will be 11:00 am, Saturday, June 19, 2021, at First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen.  Rev. Derek Baum will officiate.

Inurnment will be held at South Dakota State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Dennis died Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at his home.

Dennis Day was born April 8, 1949, to Frank and Rosalind (Henjum) Day in Oakes, ND.  He attended high school before going on to Bismarck Trade School.  He served in Vietnam from 1968 – 1970 and was honorably discharged from the United States Army.

He was joined in marriage to Mary Gibson on January 6, 1969, and had two sons, Travis and Trent.  After his discharge from the service, he worked for Bohnenkamp Auto Body before moving to Aberdeen in 1972.  In Aberdeen, he worked for Safelite Auto Glass and Abra Auto Body.

During retirement, he enjoyed riding his Harley and also working on his hot rods. He loved spending time with family, friends, and his grandkids.

Dennis is survived by his two sons, Travis Day of Aberdeen, SD and Trent (Cheri) Day of Sioux Falls, SD; one brother, Charles (Sally) Day of Dundas, MN; three sisters, Diane Yager of Eden Prairie, MN, Elaine (Lloyd) Just of Aberdeen, SD, and Linda (Dan) Larson of Bismarck, ND; two brothers-in-law, Allen Kenny & Terry Claudy; five grandchildren, Kristina and Rob (Travis) and Trevor, Connor, & Makaila (Trent) and three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Ashlyn, and Alex (Kris).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose; one brother, Duane Day; two sisters, Jan Claudy and Phyllis Kenny and one brother-in-law, Paul Yager.

We will forever love and miss him.
