Britton, SD-Memorial Service for Donna J. Schliebe, 90, of Britton and formerly of Claremont and Langford will be held at a later date.Burial will be in Britton City Cemetery. Donna died January 18, 2021 at Wheatcrest Hills Healthcare Center in Britton. Donna Jane Ladner, daughter of Christian and Ethel (Wampler) Ladner was born on February 5, 1930 in Claremont, SD. This is where she grew up, graduating from Claremont High School with the class of 1947. She then attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen and earned her Teachers Certificate. Donna taught country school for one year near Claremont. Donna was united in marriage to James Morris November 24, 1947. They made their home a few miles from Claremont. She raised four children on that farm. In 1980, they moved into Claremont. Her husband, James died in 1987. In 1991, she began working for the US Postal Service as a substitute postmistress. Donna was united in marriage to Donald Schliebe on December 24, 1988 in Claremont United Methodist Church. They made their home in Claremont. She retired from the US Post Office in 1995. Together, Donna and Don enjoyed traveling in their retirement. Her husband, Donald died September 3, 1989 and in 2009 she moved to Langford to be close to her daughters. In February 2020 she entered nursing care. While living in Claremont, she was active with Claremont American Legion Auxiliary and Claremont United Methodist Church. Donna enjoyed quilting and sewing. When just relaxing, she could be found bird watching, something she truly loved. Grateful for having shared Donna's life are her daughters, Yvonne (Blair) Healy and Lynette Bivens, both of Langford, SD; sons, Danny (Robbie) Morris of Rapid City and Richard (Delores) Morris of Mankato, MN; sisters, Margaret King of Sioux Falls and Bernice Docter of Amherst, SD; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, James and Donald, brother, Ivan Ladner: sisters, Leona Reetz, Evelyn Olson, and Shirley Frey and granddaughter, Tiffany Valnes.The family prefers memorials to Claremont United Methodist Church, 201 6th St., Claremont, SD 57432.Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
