Doug died June 24, 2022, at Avera Eureka Health Care Center.
Doug Stroh, son of Lawrence and Eileen (Repp) Stroh was born May 22, 1962, at Eureka. He was the oldest of three children: his brother, Gerald “Jerry,” was two years younger and his sister, Kristin, was six years younger. Doug grew up on the family farm and graduated from Eureka High School. He attended college at Western Dakota Vo Tech where he studied mechanics and welding. After college he returned to the family farm by Eureka where he farmed and ranched until his health failed.
Doug’s passion was the farm as he didn’t leave it very often. One thing that he never failed to do each year was to take a trip in the fall to the southern part of the state to visit relatives and see how their farming was going. If Doug had any spare time, he liked to watch sports, read books and magazines, and spend time with friends and neighbors at the local gathering place of Hillsview, SD. Doug dealt with the struggles of Huntington’s disease without complaining. His last years were spent at Eureka Assisted Living and then Eureka Health Care Center. He was a member of Eureka Reformed Church.
Grateful for having shared Doug’s life are his brother Jerry (Sharon) Stroh of Aberdeen; brother-in-law, Ben (Chris) Lau of Armour, SD; nephew, Chad (Hannah) Lau of Armour and niece, Kendra (Robert) Thies of Corsica, SD.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kristin Lau.
Casketbearers will be Ben Lau, Chad Lau, Robert Thies, Cletus Imberi, Keith Mehlhaff and Darwin Aman.
