Gene died September 27, 2020 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor.
Gene, son of Ernest Theodore and Larena Viola (Mehlhoff) Kallenberger was born June 11, 1953 in Aberdeen. This is where he grew up while attending Aberdeen Public Schools, graduating from Central High School with the class of 1971. He worked at Coca-Cola Bottling Co. for a few years. Gene then became employed with Aberdeen Public Schools where he was a custodian working primarily at Lincoln Elementary School for almost 19 years before retiring.
Gene never drove a car; his bicycle was his mode of transportation year-round. He had few passions in life, but they were strong, and he was a loyal Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. He also enjoyed his brother's, Jerry Lee's hamburgers, which he could not get enough of.
Grateful for having shared Gene's life are his siblings, Viola (Jerry) Esser, Larena (Bernel) Swanson, Genie Peterson, Rose Kraig and Jerry Lee (Sandy) Kallenberger, all of Aberdeen and Erno (Bobi) Kallenberger of Pierre, SD and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ernielee Kallenberger.
