Gladys died December 27, 2021, at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center.

Gladys was born November 21, 1945, to Reinhold and Ida (Stern) Woehl in Linton, ND. She grew up mainly in the Ashley/Wishek area, graduating from Ashley High School with the class of 1963. She worked outside of the home for short periods of time. After high school she worked for Ashley Farmers Union as the bookkeeper followed by a short time as a second-grade teachers’ aide, and several years later she worked for Judy Fry at Town & Country grocery for about a year.

Gladys had a dream of becoming a fashion designer. She fulfilled that dream by hand drawing and making her own paper dolls as well as making matching shirts for her family. She could patch, hem, or sew absolutely anything.

Gladys met the love of her life, Earl through a mutual friend on a blind date in December of 1964. Two weeks later, on January 2, 1965, they were united in marriage in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Ashley. They made their home on Earl’s family farm, 20 miles east of Ashley, where they raised small grains and cattle, and milked cattle for eight years. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters. Robyn Ann in 1975 and Kari Kay in 1978.

They enjoyed living in the country and still lived and worked the farm.

Gladys was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. In her younger years, she liked to socialize and attend Friday night dances. She enjoyed her time at home, crocheting, doing needle point, word search and puzzles. Gladys loved to go ice fishing but spending time with her grandchildren just at home or doing an activity is what she loved more than anything.

Grateful for having shared Gladys’ life are her husband of almost 57 years, Earl; daughter, Robyn (Joshua) Schock and grandchildren, Gabriel, and Johanna of Ashley; brothers, Wesley (Deb) Woehl of Bismarck, Don (Judy) Woehl of Redfield, SD, and Tom (Dianna) Woehl of Wishek, sister, Judie (Gary Sr.) Benjamin of Erskine, MN, and sister-in-law Shirley Fleming of Ashley.

She joins in heaven her parents, infant brother, Victor Woehl, infant daughter, Kari Kay Schneider, and infant granddaughter, Mia Schock.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Gladys’ nieces and nephews.

Casketbearers will be Terry Woehl, Todd Woehl, Llewellyn Schneider, James Goettle, Jesse Weinert, and Doug Johnson.
