Irene M. Gross, 94, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Prairie Heights Healthcare, surrounded by her loving family.

A Funeral Service will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, SD, with Pastor Mike Jacobson officiating. Burial will also be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The visitation will be one hour before the funeral.

Irene M. Gross was born in Germany on December 10, 1929, to Karl and Luise Eckel. She was the youngest of six children.

Irene came over from Germany when she was 24 years old and married Bill Gross in 1954. Bill and Irene owned and operated various businesses in the city of Aberdeen. Her passion was her work, and when she wasn’t busy working, she spent time with her family.

Irene would go back to Germany every five years to visit her family and friends. Each time, she would bring back a new fur coat from her niece’s fur shop.

Irene is survived by her friend Charlie Bonen; niece Linda Wilson; and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; her sisters: Else, Lotti, Doris, and Irma; brothers-in-law, Orville and Gordy; and sister-in-law Wilma.
