Ivan Edward Morehouse

Bristol, SD-Memorial Service for Ivan Edward Morehouse, 90, of Bristol will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Westside Wesleyan Church in Bristol. Pastor Lynn Lutz will officiate. The service will be live streamed and available under Ivan’s obituary at www.Carlsenfh.com. 

A prayer service will be Friday, November 12th at 6:30 pm at Westside Wesleyan Church.       

Inurnment will be in Andover Cemetery with military rites. 

Ivan died November 7, 2021, at Sanford Hospital Webster.      

Ivan Edward, son of James Archie and Emma (Raeder) Morehouse was born January 8, 1931, on the family homestead five miles south of Andover, SD. This is where he grew up and attended country school.  He graduated from Andover High School in 1948. He worked as a farm hand in the Andover area.    

Ivan was united in marriage to Carolyn J. Fugman on September 12, 1952, in Andover Methodist Church. He entered the United States Army on September 11, 1952 and served as a clerk and was honorably discharged in 1954.  Ivan returned to Andover, purchased a farm, and started a dairy and stock cattle operation, which he ran for 32 years.  In 1986, he and Carolyn moved to Andover.  He owned a tree stump removal service during his retirement, doing this all the way to Texas.  He also helped at the Andover Café where he and his wife were managers for several years.

He enjoyed country drives, visiting over coffee and hunting.  People loved his wit, and he was known for his ability to offer his help.

Ivan was a former member of the Methodist Church in Andover, serving in many capacities and then at North Highland United Methodist Church in Aberdeen where he was also active in church.  Ivan was a member of AMPI Milk Board as a director, DaMar Elevator Board and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.      

Grateful for having shared Ivan’s life are his children, Glenda Nemec of Bristol, SD, Sherry (Bryce) Turner of Bowdle, SD, Connie (Loren) Cutler of Veblen, SD, Bradley (Diann) Morehouse of Andover, SD, Paul (Imogene) Morehouse of Theodore, AL and Raymond Morehouse of Yankton, SD; 27 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; sister, Dianna Ward of Zionsville, IN; brother, Robert (Gloria) Morehouse of Hutchinson, MN and brother-in-law, Willis Hoffbeck of Palatine, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carolyn, (8-15-2021), son-in-law, Mark Nemec, and sister, Ruth Hoffbeck.
