Jesse Smith Sr.

Fredonia, ND-Celebration of Life for Jesse Smith Sr., 61, of Fredonia, ND will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 13, 2022, at St. David’s Catholic Church in Ashley, ND.

The Rosary will be led at 1:30 pm.     

Jesse died March 7, 2022, at his home.

Jesse was born June 29, 1960, to William and Eleanor (Toombs) Smith in Franklin, IN. This is where he grew up and after receiving his education, he moved to Tampa, FL.     

He was united in marriage to Patricia Shay on May 25, 1990, in Tampa, FL. They made their home in Tampa until 1992. They then moved to the Murdo, SD area where they began cattle ranching. In October 1998 they moved to their ranch in McIntosh County, ND near the Ashley area.

Jesse was a member of St. David’s Catholic Church. He was extremely interested in his cattle. He enjoyed a good western movie, especially John Wayne movies. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed his time with his close friend.

Grateful for having shared Jesse’s life are his wife of 31 years, Patricia; children, Patrick Shay of Killeen, TX, Jesse Smith II of Abilene, TX, Richard (Jess) Smith and Jonathan Smith, both of Bismarck, ND and Lillian (Michael) Bloch of Towner, ND; grandchildren, Javon Wagner and Corday Smith; sisters, Kathy (Don) Roach of Martinsville, IN and Velissa (Chris) Eescore of Bristol, TN and brother, Daniel Toombs.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Smith and sister, Kay Boner. 

The family prefers memorials to your local cancer association or clinic or the American Cancer Society for esophageal cancer research.
