June died January 16, 2022, peacefully with her family as her side at Avantara Redfield.
June was born July 12, 1927, to Christopher and Alma (Christianson) Lorenzen in Aberdeen, SD. She grew up and attended school in Bath, SD.
June married Donald E. Arthurs on January 7, 1948, in Aberdeen. They lived on the family farm until Donald went into the service, then they relocated.
June was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Legion Auxiliary. She worked at Dakota Hatchery and later at SD Development Center until she retired. After retirement, she began working in the kitchen at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield.
You could always find June in the kitchen cooking up something from the many cookbooks she collected, canning, or tending her fish aquariums. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, but always found time to play cards and Yahtzee with family and friends. June loved to collect cookie jars and fill them with some of her favorite cookie recipes. June and Don loved spending time and fishing at their home on Cottonwood Lake, her most favorite place to be was at Hava Rest camping with family.
June will be lovingly missed by her family. She is survived by her son and daughters, Donald M. Arthurs, Kristi (Lorry) Buchholz, Pamela Nelson and Lannie Arthurs, all of Redfield; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald E. (June 2008), brother, Meryl Lorenzen, and sister, Betty Arthurs.
A special thank you to Avantara and all the staff who loved her, she was known there as Grandma June.
