Aberdeen, SD: Linh Lanz, 79, of Aberdeen, passed away Thursday, February 23rd, 2023. No formal services will be held, with burial at a later date. Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Linh Lanz, daughter of Sen Trieu and Khol Thi Tang, was born May 29, 1943 in Vietnam. She was married to Quan Minh Nguyen and had three children: one son (Tuan Minh Nguyen) and two daughters (Minh Ngoc Thi Nguyen and Minh Dung Thi Nguyen). After the war, in 1981, she left Vietnam with the older daughter Minh Ngoc Thi Nguyen to come to the United States as refugees. From refugee camp, she and her daughter were assigned to settle in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Since then, she worked as a nurse aid at Avera Mother Joseph Manor. In 1985, she was married to Rex Lloyd Lanz who worked at the Department of Transportation in Aberdeen.
Having a full time job, she continued to sponsor her children from Vietnam to come to the United States. Thus, in 1992, her younger daughter Minh Dung Thi Nguyen was able to arrive in Aberdeen as a permanent resident, not a refugee. Her oldest son still lived in Vietnam with his wife.
She is survived by a brother (Pink Trieu) and her three children.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Her husband Rex Lloyd Lanz also passed away recently on May 19, 2020.
