Martin Edward Van Den Eykel Sr.

Aberdeen, SD-Martin Edward Van Den Eykel Sr., 82, of Aberdeen died Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. There will be private family service at a later date.
Martin, son of Jacobus Johannis "JJ" and Maartje (van Zuijlen) Van Den Eykel was born September 1, 1938 on a farm near Gettysburg, SD. He later began farming and ranching near Lebanon, SD. In 1968, he purchased a farm near Ashley, ND, living and farming there until 1987. Martin then moved to Leola, SD and eventually to Aberdeen.
Martin was very proud of the land he purchased in the 1990's near Richmond Lake. He was very social and loved to have coffee and tell jokes with his friends at the truck stop. He had a love for all animals, especially cats and dogs. Martin's favorite vehicle was a Cadillac and he enjoyed just simply driving around and taking in the scenery.
Survivors include Martin's sons, Martin E. Van Den Eykel Jr. of Cambridge, MN, John Raymond of Dalton, MN and daughter, Debra Ann (John) Iwen of Detroit Lakes, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gerrit, and Jacob Jr., sister, Anna Hansen and special friend, Vivian Mack.
Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society.
