Melissa Rose Hedges, daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Mertz) Hedges was born September 28, 1969, in Aberdeen. She was the youngest of eight siblings. She grew up on the family farm one mile west of Aberdeen and attended Aberdeen Schools, graduating from Central High School with the class of 1988. She helped on the family farm, doing farm work, and assisted with renting out their riding horses. On the weekends, she also helped with the family band.
She was united in marriage to Jeff Loebs on May 8, 1993, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen. They made their home in Aberdeen where she was employed at Midcom until it closed. Melissa then went to work at Banner Engineering for ten years. Her last place of employment was at 3M. Due to failing health, she quit working.
Melissa enjoyed camping and spending as much time as she could with her two grandchildren. There was nothing she loved more than her grandchildren. She enjoyed craft work and some sewing.
