She was a kind and gentle soul, a teacher, bookkeeper, farmer; then later called into nursing. She worked in nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, special units, an EMT, and as a school nurse, retiring in 2014. Her hobbies included singing, playing piano and organ, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. For nearly all of her years, she sang in choirs and groups. She enjoyed surrounding herself with friends and family, immersed in fun talk and fellowship.

As a Christian, church was important to her - all of her life, she was baptized at the Venturia Baptist Church. Church and fellowship was instrumental to her relationships. She was a member of Aberdeen Alliance Church. She held many church local and state offices, she was a charter member of Regional Aging Council, co-chair of Aberdeen Area Christian Women, and member of Dakota Sunshine Singers for several years.
