Reinhold Stugelmayer

Ashley, ND-Funeral Service for Reinhold Stugelmayer, 90, of Ashley will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church. Deacon Deb Cantrell will officiate. The service will be live streamed and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Reinhold’s obituary.

Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery with military graveside rites.

There will be a prayer service Monday at 7:00 pm with visitation from 6:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Reinhold died October 1, 2021, at Ashley Nursing Home.

Reinhold was born May 2, 1931, to Gottlieb and Bertha (Wagemann) Stugelmayer on the family homestead southeast of Ashley. He helped on the family farm and attended country school. Reinhold worked for August Geiszler as a hired hand.

He was united in marriage to Lorraine Hoffman on October 12, 1951, in the Zion Lutheran parsonage in Ashley. Reinhold was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 and was stationed in Alaska, serving as a truck driver. He was honorably discharged in 1953. Upon his return, he and Lorraine purchased Johnny Rohrbach’s farm southeast of Ashley in South Dakota. They lived and farmed there, raising small grains and livestock. In 1987, they built a new home and moved into Ashley. Reinhold continued to farm from town until retiring in 2010.

Reinhold enjoyed dancing, playing cards, coffee time and taking trips to the casino. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Long Lake American Legion Post #276.

Grateful for having shared Reinhold’s life are his sons, Keith (Connie) Stugelmayer and Ken Stugelmayer, both of Long Lake, SD; two grandchildren, Kelly Jo (Jason) Dockter and Lisa (Clarence) Gilstad; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Gladys Wahl of Ashley.

Preceding Reinhold in death were his parents, wife, Lorraine (2-15-2019) and brother, Oscar.

Casketbearers will be Riley Molter, Faith Dockter, Caitlin Molter, Danielle Gilstad, Haley Gilstad and Tony Wahl.

The family prefers memorials to Ashley Medical Center.
