Rose Marie Johnson, 87, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Avera Mother Joseph’s Manor, Aberdeen.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family prefers that any memorials be sent to Kevin Johnson, 1230 Gemini Ave, Aberdeen, SD 57401, and will be donated to the Aberdeen Area Humane Society.

Rose Marie Nelson was born October 14, 1937, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Christian and Rose (Ochs) Nelson. She grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1955.
Rose married Nels Albert (Al) Johnson on September 25, 1961, in Webster, South Dakota.
Rose went into the workforce immediately after high school and spent the majority of her working life as a bookkeeper. She worked for many years at Dakota Sash & Door Company and McFarland Supply Company, where she worked well into her 70s.
Rose loved to spend her spare time watching TV, especially the Twins, Vikings, and the Hallmark Channel, and had a secret affinity for QVC. She also loved visits from the “grand puppies” and had a special snack drawer of treats for them when they came to visit.
Rose is survived by her children: Kevin (Molly) Johnson of Aberdeen, SD; her daughter Kim Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ; grandsons: Jordan Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; Joshua Johnson of Aberdeen, SD; and Andrew (Katie) Johnson of Sioux City, IA; great-grandchildren: Elliott, Benny, Max and Sloan Johnson of Sioux City, IA; her sisters: Dorothy Albert of Groton, SD and Mary Ann (Jerry) Krueger of Aberdeen, SD; brother Donald Nelson of Piedmont, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Rose Nelson, and brother, Richard Nelson.
