Rose passed away  Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Sanford Webster Medical Center in Webster, SD.

Rose was born June 6, 1926 in rural Hillsview, SD, to Emanuel and Margaret (Hieb) Aman.  She was the 5th of 9 children.  She grew up on the Aman family homestead farm southeast of Hillsview and attended Hillsview # 2 country school located southwest of their farm for 8 years. During her years at home, Rose worked hard helping with such farm chores as milking cows, gathering eggs, tending to the draft horses and working in the fields, schocking grain and pitching bundles.  When Rose decided it was time to do something else, she moved to Watertown, SD, to attend cosmetology school and worked as a beautician in Watertown until moving to Springfield, MO.  While in Springfield, Rose was employed as a nurse’s aide in the obstetric ward of St. John’s Hospital.  After about two years, she returned to the Hillsview area to be of assistance to her mother Margaret who had been diagnosed with cancer.  During this time, she met her future husband Philip Wolff and they were united in marriage on May 30, 1954, at the Hosmer Reformed Church in Hosmer, SD.  Following a honeymoon trip to Niagara Falls, New York the couple made their home 2 ½ miles west of Eureka on the Wolff family homestead farm where they raised crops, milked cows, and raised Hampshire hogs and Polled Hereford cattle. Rose was involved in all aspects of working on the farm and raising their children.  Following the death of her husband Philip, in November of 1997, Rose remained on the farm until 1999 when she moved to Aberdeen, SD.  While living in Aberdeen, she served as a volunteer for the Foster Grandparents Program through St. Luke’s Hospital.  In 2004, Rose moved to the Dell Rapids area, where she provided full time daycare for her son Tom’s young family.

Rose liked to cook, especially traditional German food including Knoephla, Strudels and  Dumplings.  She also enjoyed baking pies and Kuchen along with a host of other sweet treats to share.  Rose found pleasure in tending her large garden along with doing embroidery.  However, spending time with her grandchildren was what brought her the greatest joy and satisfaction in her later years.  Her relationship with them was extra special because she had taken care of them every week day until they were school age.

Rose was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka for many years until transferring her membership to the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids.

Rose is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Tanya Torguson) of Bath, SD, Karla (Tony) Muller of Austin, MN, and Thomas (Lisa) Wolff of Dell Rapids, SD; seven grandchildren, Jay Wolff, Redfield, SD;  Amy Wolff, Bunker Hill, WV;  Abigail Muller, Brookings, SD; and Kadin Wolff, Brandon, SD;  Philip Wolff, Mitchell, SD;  Grace & Coryn Wolff, Dell Rapids, SD;
