Sandra Lee Vanderbilt, born June 23, 1943, in Redfield, South Dakota, to Harold John “Bud” and Hazel (Mullett) Vanderbilt, has left this world, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Sandra, affectionately known as Sandy, is survived by her two devoted daughters, Tammy Ackerman (Wayne) of Rapid City, SD, and Theresa Norton of Piedmont, SD. Her nurturing spirit lives on in her beloved grandchildren: Shauna Schroeder (Hansen), Cuno Jacob Hansen (Tammy), William Wade Norton, and Ronald “Bud” Melius (Theresa).

Sandy’s generosity and warmth continue through her great-grandchildren: Tuesday, Seth, Gabriel, and Zarah (children of Shauna); Cayden, Navaeh, Montana, and Cassius (children of Cuno Jacob); Amyah and Kristian (children of William Wade).

Sandy was also dearly loved by her siblings: Dale Vanderbilt (Sheila) and Wayne Vanderbilt, both of Columbia, South Carolina; and Garnet Hahn (Mark) of Little Rock, Arkansas. Her nieces and nephews, Tony, Jordan, and Linda, along with her great-nieces and nephews, Ashley and Alicia (and their children) Cayden and Carson, sons of Jordan), hold her memory close.

She has now joined her husbands in Heaven, sharing in coffee and dancing with Donald Dean Anderson (Tammy’s father) and Floyd L. Norton (Theresa’s father). Sandy is survived by many cousins, mostly on her mother’s side, Hazel Vanderbilt, who were part of the life Sandy lived on their farm east of Ashton. During those summers in her adolescence, she shared many happy memories with her aunts and uncles and their families, especially Mary, Mabel, and Millie. As well on her paternal side Marion (O”Daniel ), Fern and Evelyn (Cottrell)

Sandra's high-spirited nature was evident from a young age, whether it was speeding down the streets of Ashton or cruising Main Street in Redfield. Her zest for life and her loving heart made her a cherished presence in the lives of those around her. She always wanted her loved ones to be happy and to meet life's challenges head-on. Sandy was a person whom all of us found joy in, yet she still searched for joy herself.

So rest now, Mom, and find peace and joy.
