Yvonne M. Eberhart

Eureka, SD-Funeral Service for Yvonne M. Eberhart, 75, of Eureka will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Eureka United Methodist Church. Rev. Shawn Abbas will officiate. The service will be live-streamed and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Yvonne’s obituary.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Yvonne died August 2, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Yvonne was born October 12, 1945 in Kansas City, MO. She was adopted as an infant by her parents, Melvin, and Nina (Larson) Lang. Her father was a Pastor, and she was raised in the Methodist Church. She grew up and attended public schools in Freeport, IL graduating from high school in 1963. She then attended college for one year at Westmar in LeMars, IA and later nursing school in Rockford, IL earning her degree as an LPN. She worked at the Elmhurst Hospital.

Yvonne was united in marriage to Allen Eberhart at Wood Dale Methodist Church, Wood Dale, IL on October 5, 1968. They made their home at Ellsworth AFB near Rapid City, SD where Allen was stationed. She worked at the Rapid City Community Hospital. In December 1971 Allen was honorably discharged and they moved to Java, SD to farm on the Eberhart family farm. In 1975 they moved to their own farm two miles from the family farm. Yvonne worked at the Eureka Community Hospital as a nurse for 20 years. She worked at Valley Telecommunications in Herreid a short time and was the bookkeeper at Trail Chrysler in Eureka for a few years. She then returned to the Avera Eureka Health Care Center where she worked in the medical records department for 18 years, retiring in June 2020.

Yvonne held a major roll in the farming operation by keepings the books. She loved to be around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending time with them whenever she could even at work at the nursing home. Yvonne enjoyed cross stitch and sewing, reading books, and watching Hallmark movies. She also enjoyed going on a Mission Trip to Jamaica in 1992 where she taught girls at a school how to sew.

Yvonne was a member of the Eureka United Methodist Church, past church treasurer and financial secretary and was a member of the Eureka Library Board.

Grateful for having shared Yvonne’s life are her husband of 52 years, Allen; sons, Brent (Dana) Eberhart of Watertown, SD, and Corey (Kristi) Eberhart of Java, SD; daughter, Kimberly (Greg) Suckow of Rapid City, SD; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Aaron (Sierra) Eberhart and Rhett, Dalton Eberhart, Alysa (Bryan) Renfrow and Janessa and Kasyn, Keeley Eberhart and Savanna Suckow; two brothers, Vince Lang of Elmhurst, IL, and Rolland (Robin) Lang of Betavia, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-grandchild, Jonah (1997).

Honorary Casketbearers will be Yvonne’s five grandchildren and their spouses.

The family prefers memorials to Eureka Library, Avera Eureka Health Care Center or Eureka Community Health Services Avera.
