Alice Anna Martel was born January 6, 1923 to Emil and Emma (Jung) Martel on the family homestead in Edmunds County, SD. This is where she grew up while attending country school. She helped on the family farm.

Alice was united in marriage to Andrew Kramlich on June 8, 1941 in Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka. They made their home on a farm near Hillsview, SD, where they were general farmers. In the mid 1940’s, they moved to a Martel farm (Alice’s parents) and continued farming. They retired in 1976 but continued to make their home on the farm. In October of 2006, Alice and Andrew moved into an apartment in Eureka. Andrew died April 18, 2010. In 2011, Alice entered Hosmer Senior Citizens Home, later transferring to Avera Eureka Health Care Center in June of 2013.

She was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church. When Alice was younger, she and Andrew liked to go dancing and play cards. She enjoyed embroidery and with her friends, she liked to quilt and make strudels. Suppers with friends was always something she could look forward too and cherished that time.
