Aberdeen, SD-Memorial service for Betty Mae Salo, 92, of Aberdeen will be 11:00 am, Saturday, October 19, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. Rev. Samuel Bobby and Rev. Josiah Fitch will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Betty became an angel October 13, 2019 at her home, peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Betty Mae Moore, daughter of Frank and Maude (McIntyre) Moore was born December 23, 1926 in Kent Township, ND. She grew up in the Guelph, North Dakota area and worked on the family farm.
Betty was united in marriage to Emil Salo on October 9, 1947 at Ellendale, ND. They made their home on their own farm until 1965 when they relocated to Aberdeen with their family. Betty began her career as a waitress at the Alonzo Ward Hotel and in 1976, she began working at Kessler’s as a waitress. She later transferred to the Deli and after 37 years of serving the public at Kessler’s, she retired in 2013.
Betty thoroughly enjoyed relaxing during her retirement years. She looked forward to family gatherings and liked to listen to polka music. She kept busy during her free time by gardening and crocheting doilies and knitting many afghans. Betty was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Grateful to have shared in Betty’s life are her children, Michael (Vickie) Salo of Aberdeen, Connie (Dan) Mathiason of Aberdeen and Roger (Patty) Salo of Mina, SD; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Emil (11-30-1993), infant son, son, Larry, daughter, Judy Dutenhoffer, two infant grandsons and three brothers, Jim, Clyde “Bud” and Vernon Moore.
Urnbearers will be Jordan Ludwig and Matthew Ludwig.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
