Jamestown, ND-Funeral service for Clara E. Fiechtner, 89, of Jamestown will be 10:30 am, Friday, July 12, 2019 at Concordia Lutheran Church at Jamestown. Rev. Tom Eckstein will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery at Monango, ND.

There will be a prayer service Thursday at 7:00 pm with visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm at Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown.

Clara died July 5, 2019 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

Clara E. Middlestead, daughter of John J. and Emily (Schneck) Middlestead was born December 15, 1929 on the family farm near Merricourt, ND where she grew up in a family of 12 siblings. She attended country school.

Clara was united in marriage to Arthur “Art” Hartman on October 9, 1948 in Ellendale. They made their home in Jamestown. Clara worked at the ND State Hospital for over 35 years, retiring as the Head Seamstress. They also farmed on weekends at the farm near Merricourt. She and Art retired in 1982 and moved to Monango. Art died September 26, 2000. Shortly thereafter, Clara moved back to Jamestown.

Clara was united in marriage to Gottlieb Fiechtner on February 14, 2003 in Concordia Lutheran Church at Jamestown. She and Gottlieb continued to make their home in Jamestown. Gottlieb died June 25, 2012.

Clara loved her family deeply and always looked forward to her travels that would bring her to family for visits. She also loved crafting and selling her items at craft shows. Over the years she liked to tend to her garden and share her produce with her neighbors. Clara was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.

Grateful for having shared Clara’s life are her sisters, Ellen Kupfer of Palos Hills, IL, Viola Lukacik of Chicago, IL, Bertha Hoffman of Grand Meadows, MN, Delores Brown of Palos Hills, IL and Violet Lillestol of Mobridge, SD.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Arthur Hartman and Gottlieb Fiechtner, three brothers, Dan, Harold and Melvin and four sisters, Ruth Brandenburger, Martha Scheneman, Edna Hoff and Darlene Fregien.

Honorary Casketbearers will be all who have shared in her life.

Casketbearers will be Carl Hintzman, Chris Kelly, Nikki Laufenberg, Kelsey Laufenberg, Kay Kelly, Corey Genter, Aaron Roberts and Lori Roberts.

The family prefers memorials to JRMC Home Health & Hospice, 2422 20th St. SW, Jamestown, ND 58401.
