Aberdeen, SD-Funeral service for Clara Mae Ewer, 91, of Aberdeen will be 11:00 am, Friday, October 25, 2019 at United Methodist Church in Pleasanton, NE. Pastor Heung Ho Park will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasanton Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Clara died October 19, 2019 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen after a long battle with dementia.
Clara Mae Psota was born to Louis and Katherine (Hervert) Psota on April 23, 1928 in Nebraska. She grew up in and around Ravenna, NE, graduating from Ravenna High School.
After high school, Clara worked as a telephone operator for Ravenna Telephone Company and later, Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Kearney, NE. Clara was united in marriage to Duane Ewer on July 11, 1947 and together they raised five children.
After living in Kearney, Riverton, Hyannis and Curtis, NE, she and Duane moved their family to Aberdeen, SD where Duane accepted a teaching position at Northern State College in 1964. In 1972, Clara accepted the position of Accounts Receivable Supervisor at Northern Electric Co-op in Bath, SD, retiring in 1991.
Clara was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader and amazing solver of crossword puzzles. She and Duane enjoyed traveling in their free time. Clara was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, First United Methodist Church and Northern Faculty Wives.
Clara is survived by her children, Richard (Donna) Ewer of Springfield, NE, Judy Ewer (Allan Mathews) of Missoula, MT, Stephen (Debra) Ewer of Lakeville, MN and Susan (Milton) Koerner of Aberdeen, SD; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Joyce Wink and Wilma (Don) Keaschall, both of Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Duane of 67 years (8-2-2014), son, Brian Ewer, grandson, Michael Beaudry, two sisters and one brother.
Clara’s family would like to thank Mother Joseph Manor and Hospice for all their loving care of Mom.
