Eureka, SD-Funeral service for DeLores LaMay (Nitschke) Hoff, 83, of Eureka will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Carlsen Funeral Home in Eureka. Rev. James Clarke will officiate.

Burial will be in Eureka City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 1, 2019 from 3:00-5:00 pm at the funeral home.

DeLores died December 28, 2018 at her residence.

DeLores LaMay Nitschke was born April 3, 1935 to John E. and Emelia (Schaffer) Nitschke near Fredonia, ND. This is where she grew up. She then lived with her sister in Ellendale, ND while she attended Ellendale High School, graduating with the class of 1952. She then worked at Ashley Dry Cleaners in Ashley, ND.

DeLores was united in marriage to Richard Hoff on June 7, 1953 in Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley. They made their home on Richard’s farm where they raised small grains and livestock and milked for many years. They rented their land out 21 years ago and semi-retired. She worked at Avera Eureka Health Care Center for 11 years as a CNA. DeLores thoroughly enjoyed her work and the residents and her fellow employees.

DeLores had many interests. Some of those were reading, embroidery and needle work. She had a large vegetable garden and would can her produce. Cooking was something she loved to do and got much joy from people eating her delicious food. She was an animal lover and raised St. Bernard’s for a few years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Richard; sons, Gerald Hoff of Bismarck, ND and Scottie (Melinda) Hoff of Eureka; daughter, Kathy (Mark) Bentz of Artas, SD; nine grandchildren, Karen Farstad, Alison (Casey) Zarr, Dr. Heather Hoff, Meaghan Hoff, Breanna Hoff, Janine (Tony) Goldade, Suzanne (Mark) Thompson, Michael Bentz and Kayloni Bentz and seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Farstad, Lucas Farstad, Gracie Zarr, Katie Zarr, Axel Goldade, Ace Goldade and Brooklyn Goldade.

DeLores was preceded in death by her parents, son, Richard (Dickie) Duane Hoff, two brothers, Alvin Nitschke and Herbert Nitschke and one sister, Gladys Blumhardt.

Casketbearers will be Tony Goldade, Mark Thompson, Michael Bentz, Casey Zarr, Curtis Ylitalo and Brandon Beutler.
