Dennis died January 24, 2020 at Ashley Medical Center.

Dennis was born January 25, 1938 to Edwin and Emma (Kraemer) Haupt at Venturia, ND.  He attended school through the eighth grade in Venturia and Ashley, graduating with the class of 1956.  He then moved to Minneapolis where he attended telegraphy school and worked as a depot agent in various towns for the next two years.  Dennis then moved back to Venturia to take over the family farm and operation.

He was united in marriage to Judy Bendewald on September 23, 1962 in Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley.  Dennis’s pride and joy was his farm and over the years making it a wonderful place to live and raise a family.  He received two awards, those being “Outstanding Young Farmer Award” and “Outstanding Farm Family Award”.  Dennis and his family enjoyed their time at the family cabin at Lake Hoskins and loved a great day of fishing.  The love he had for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was very strong and he was a very proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Traveling with Judy was always what he looked forward too, and the last eight years in Mesa, AZ were memories that will never be forgotten.

Dennis was a life member of Zion Lutheran Church where he had been active with the choir and church council.  He was a former member of Venturia Fire Department, a Venturia Alderman and had held the position of Mayor for 20 years and was on the church council at Venturia Lutheran Church.  Over the years, Dennis was very active with Lions and as a Past President, Jaycees and for several years he sat on the McIntosh County Weed Board.
