Gina Ione Rath

Eureka, SD-Private Memorial Service for Gina Ione Rath, 48, of Eureka will be 11:00 am, Friday, May 29, 2020 at Zion American Lutheran Church. Rev. Ryan Gage will officiate. The service will be live streamed on Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory Facebook page and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Gina's obituary.
Burial will be in Salem Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Long Lake, SD.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00-5:00 pm at the funeral home.
Gina died unexpectantly May 24, 2020 at Eureka Community Health Services Avera.
Gina Ione Weber, daughter of Clarence and Leona (Klein) Weber was born April 25, 1972 in Ashley, ND. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Ashley. She attended Ashley High School and graduated in 1990.
Gina was united in marriage to Bryan Iszler on September 7, 1991 in Emmanuel United Methodist Church at Ashley, ND. They had one daughter, Kayla, in 1994. Gina moved to Eureka, SD in 2007.
Gina was united in marriage to Jim Rath on March 30, 2011 on a beach in Florida. They made their home in Eureka but enjoyed being snowbirds. Most of their winters were spent in Florida. Previously, Gina managed the Legion in Eureka for a short time; worked as a cook/waitress in Akaska, SD, but most recently she provided housekeeping services for hunter houses in Eureka.
Gina was well known for her contagious laugh. She always had a smile. Her daughter, granddaughters, nieces, and nephews were always surprised with funny cards and trinkets. She always came with bags full of treats and goodies. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, and cooking. Her famous kraut strudels, stuffing and pickled items will be greatly missed. She enjoyed fishing and camping with Jim. Over their years together they went on several trips and cruises. She was a great "navigator". They had great times and lots of wonderful memories together. More recently, most of her time was spent with her granddaughters, as they meant the world to her.
Grateful for having shared Gina's life are her husband, Jim of Eureka; daughter, Kayla (Tyler) Metzger and three granddaughters, Hailey, Prairie and Dakota Metzger of Eureka; three sisters, Suellen (Rodney) Meidinger of Wishek, ND, LuRae (Craig Law) Weber of Jamestown, ND and Francene (Curt) Gales of Colorado Springs, CO and many nieces and nephews.
Gina was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ronald Weber (1989) and sister, Geraldine Kaseman (2009).
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Eureka Ambulance, Eureka Community Health Services Avera, or Eureka Fire Department.
