Gladys died Friday, October 30, 2020 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Gladys was born August 30, 1934 to Baldaser and Clara (Veron) Gisi Jr. at Hosmer, SD. She attended school in Hosmer, graduating from high school. She went on to attend college. Before her marriage, Gladys moved to California while her future husband, Leven Rieger was in the marines.
Gladys was united in marriage to Leven on June 27, 1954 in St. Paul's Congregational Church at Hosmer, SD. She taught country school for a short time. Gladys and Leven made their home on the farm where they raised Registered Charolais Bulls. They were engaged in ranching until their 80's when they moved to Aberdeen.
Gladys was happiest when she was with family and friends. She was an excellent cook and baker. German food, homemade ice cream and a lot of desserts were always on the table. She loved her family dearly and was always there to listen or help out. Gladys had a wonderful sense of humor. Because Gladys cooked so much, one of her favorite outings was to eat out. She loved chicken wings! She was a big Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed over the years, bowling, dancing, and playing cards. Gladys was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Grateful for having shared Gladys's life are sons, Robert Rieger of Aberdeen and Timothy (Yasmin) Rieger of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Linda Towns of Sioux Falls, SD and Debbie (Willie Caldwell) Rieger of Denver, CO; eight grandchildren, Eric Rieger, Jack Rieger, Dewey Rieger, Alexander Rieger, Zachary Rieger, Sophia Rieger, Christopher Towns and Candace Towns; 11 great-grandchildren, Natasha, Damian, Sebastian, Landon, Aubree, Kaylee, August, Asia, Magic, Adriana, and Carmen and one sister, Martina (Jim) Glatt of Aberdeen.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leven (10-18-2020), brothers, Victor Gisi and Ray Gisi and sister, Berneice Welch.
