Westport, SD-Funeral Service for Harvin H. Schlosser, 90, of Westport will be 10:00 am, Friday, July 10, 2020 at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Justin Brotzel will officiate. The service will be live streamed and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Harvin's obituary.Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Harvin died July 5, 2020 at his son's home. Harvin H. Schlosser was born December 27, 1929 to Rudolph and Hilda (Neiffer) Schlosser in Palmyra Township near Frederick, SD. He attended Palmyra and Alison Country Schools.Harvin was united in marriage to Anna Sturm on April 2, 1955 in Frederick. He worked as a farmhand, construction worker and owned Schlosser and Sons Backhoe. Harvin then went to work for Brown County Highway Department for 23 years and retired in 1990 as a welder and bridge foreman. Harvin enjoyed restoring old tractors and belonged to the Westport Tractor Go-Getters and the James Valley Two Cylinder Club. Harvin was also a clerk for Westport Township.Grateful for having shared Harvin's life are two daughters, Dixie (Jim) Hatfield of Craig, CO and Donna (Mark) Underberg of Glendive, MT; two sons, Daniel (Deb) Schlosser and Donald (Debby) Schlosser, both of Westport; two brothers, Gene (Mary Ann) Schlosser of Aberdeen, and William (Linda) Schlosser of Bath, SD; three sisters, Lorraine Dorman of Carlton, CA, Shirley Wagemann of Aberdeen, and Mary (Dean) Jensen of Duluth, MN; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Harvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Anna (9-8-2014), two sisters, Joyce Schlosser, and Evelyn Olson, and three brothers, Delbert, Vern and Harlin and two grandchildren, Samuel Schlosser, and T.J. Underberg. Honorary Casketbearers will be Harvin's friends.Casketbearers will be Daniel Schlosser, Donald Schlosser, David Schlosser, Brian Schlosser, Shane Storm, and Scott Gilbertson. Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
