Ashley, ND-Private Funeral Service for Irene Frankfurth, 95, of Ashley will be 10:30 am, Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Carlsen Funeral Home in Ashley. Rev. Alvin Beyer will officiate. Irene died April 7, 2020 at Ashley Medical Center.
Irene was born June 30, 1924 to Rudolf and Johanna Frankfurth on the family homestead farm 12 miles northeast of Ashley. She grew up there and attended country school. In the late 1930’s, she moved to Ashley with her family. She would later work at E.W. Schock grocery store.
On August 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to Theodore “Ted” Frankfurth at Long Lake, SD. They made their home in Ashley, where Irene worked in dietary at McIntosh County Memorial Hospital for many years. Ted died December 26, 1999.
Irene was a huge vegetable gardener, loved mowing grass, and was an accomplished seamstress and avid crafter and quilter. Irene would attend and sell her handy work at craft fairs across a three-state area.
Grateful for having shared Irene’s life are her children, Paul (Beverly) Frankfurth, LaVern (Linda) Frankfurth, Charles (Carol) Frankfurth and Susan (Gary) Schultes; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ted.
Casketbearers will be Scott Schlepp, Ermalene Schlepp, Randy Becker, Eva Becker, Tammy Claymore and Jim Claymore.
