Jacie White

Aberdeen, SD-Jacie White, 90, of Aberdeen passed away March 6, 2021, while residing at Avantara in Lake Norden, SD.
Jacie's family only visitation will be March 20, 2021 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen, SD. At 2:00 pm, there will be a private family burial. Because of COVID-19, there will be no funeral.
Jacie White was born August 30, 1930 to Oscar and Winifred (Bovee) Wolner. Jacie graduated from Turton High School in 1948 and studied at Northern State University. After graduation from Northern, Jacie taught rural school in the Turton area for five years and at the Turton public school for one year. Jacie married Robert (Bob) White in 1954 and had seven children. In 1968 Jacie worked as a teachers' aide at the Doland Public School for a few years until she accepted the postal clerk position at the Doland Post Office. Later, Jacie took the position as postal clerk in Turton and became Turton Postmaster in 1975. In 1987 Jacie filled the Doland Postmaster position until her retirement in 2001.
After retirement in 2001, Jacie moved to Aberdeen, where two of her sons, Rollie and Monte and their families reside. In 2008, Jacie decided to move to Madison where her son Scott and family resided. She was able to watch his children while they participated in high school sports. When it was determined Jacie needed additional care, Jacie was moved to Primrose Assisted Living in Aberdeen in 2017.
Jacie looked forward to and loved hosting/participating in all family gatherings. Jacie was also a very avid sports fan of her grandchildren; you could always count on her to be at any sporting event when family was participating. Wherever Jacie lived, she always had a garden to attend to, and was proud of the many types of jams and jellies she would preserve and give to family.
Grateful for Jacie's life are her six children, Rex White of Brookings, Rollie (Linda) White of Aberdeen, Scott (Sheila) White of Madison, SD, Monte (Dianna) White of Aberdeen, Tom White of Aurora, SD, and Dr. Jay (Shannon) White of Rapid City and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is Jacie's brother, James (Kay) Wolner of Turton, SD/California.
Jacie was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Winifred Wolner, former husband, Robert, daughter, Wendy Edmonds and sisters, Shirley Everson, and Joyce Haskell.
