Ashley, ND-Funeral service for Janet Bendewald, 83, of Ashley will be 10:30 am, Monday, January 6, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley.  Rev. Susan Anderson will officiate.

Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

There will be a prayer service Sunday at 7:30 pm with visitation from 5:00-7:30 pm at the funeral home.

Janet died January 2, 2020 at Ashley Medical Center.

Janet was born August 4, 1936 to Raymond and Florence (Fox) Rogers at Edgeley, ND.  Janet was united in marriage to Harvey Bendewald on August 28, 1964 at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Ashley.  They made their home on the Bendewald farm, where they raised four children.  Janet worked very hard on the farm, milking cows, raising chickens and she enjoyed gardening.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Over the years, she was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and also the American Legion Auxiliary.  For relaxation, Janet could be found doing crossword puzzles.

Grateful for having shared Janet’s life are her husband of 55 years, Harvey; children, Timmy (Val) Rogers of Carrington, ND, Lana (Larry) Doll of Eagle Bend, MN, Carrie (Glen) Deile of Wishek, ND and Randy (Lynn) Bendewald of West Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Matt) Zylstra of Hendricks, MN, Jake (Jess) Doll of Underwood, MN, Adam (Molly) Doll of Baker, MN, Lisa (Tyler) Arvidson of Windsor, CO, Lindsey (Chris) Goldade of Ashley, Cody (Samantha) Deile of Wishek, Devin (Alexis) Deile of Zeeland, ND and Alder Reinwald of Minneapolis, MN;  13 great-grandchildren, Rylee, Trevor, Tammy, Larry, Harvey, Kimber, Harlee, Stetson, Easton, Wyatt, Amelia, Grace and Hope and sister, Beverly (Neil) Likness of Aberdeen.

Preceding Janet in death were her parents, two sisters, LaVerna Post and Janeice Rodlund, grandson, Casey Sorensen and two granddaughters, Penny Sorensen and Jessica Winters.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Janet’s great-grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be Cody Deile, Devin Deile, Lindsey Goldade, Stephanie Zylstra, Jake Doll and Chris Goldade.

Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
