Larry died March 1, 2019 at Ashley Medical Center.

Larry L. Baumann, son of Leonard and Esther (Dockter) Baumann, was born May 12, 1946 in Eureka, SD. He was raised on his parent’s farm northwest of Ashley. He attended Hoskins School District #1 through the 7th grade, then Ashley High School, graduating with the class of 1964. Larry then attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, where he obtained a two-year degree in Auto Mechanics and attended one year of Diesel Mechanics.

He was united in marriage to Marjorie Rueb on June 2, 1968 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. They made their home in Ashley for two years and Larry worked for his dad on the family farm. They took over the farming operation and moved to the farm when his parents moved to town in the Fall of 1969. They farmed until 2010 when Larry retired.

Larry loved to farm, he especially liked the harvest season. He loved spending time with friends, family and especially his grandchildren at their cabin on Lake Hoskins. He liked dogs and his favorite was a Labrador mix named, Buster. Buster went everywhere with him. Larry used to say, “he thinks he’s people”.

Larry was an avid toy collector, collecting toys for over 40 years. He spent a lot of time during the winter months restoring toys for himself and other people as well.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving one term on the church council, a member of Ashley Jaycees, past president and charter member of Lake Hoskins Improvement Association and an Ashley Lions member for 30-plus years.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; two sons, Anthony (Donna) Baumann of Calhoun, GA and Terence (Cynthia) Baumann of Twin Buttes, ND; four grandchildren, Alexis Baumann of Calhoun, GA, Karl Baumann, Jordanna Baumann and Alex Fernandez, all of Twin Buttes, ND; and two sisters, Patricia (Douglas) Schlabsz of Marion, IA and Wanda (Jamie) Johnson of Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one infant brother, Randall.
