Levern died December 8, 2019 at Ashley Nursing Home.

Levern was born October 22, 1928 to Jacob and Amelia (Landsiedel) Zimmerman on the family homestead northeast of Ashley. She attended country school and worked on the family farm.

Levern was united in marriage to Rolland Lux in October of 1948. They made their home and farmed on the Lux family homestead near Fredonia, ND. Rolland died unexpectedly July 20, 1990.  Soon after, Levern moved to Ashley.

On September 5, 1998, Levern was united in marriage to Reuben Wagemann at Salem Reformed Church in Ashley.  They made their home in Ashley. Rueben died June 26, 2006. Levern entered Ashley Nursing Home September 2016.

Levern enjoyed visiting with friends and family and also card playing get-togethers.  She especially looked forward to family get-togethers and their annual chicken butchering. Levern also tended to a very large garden. Spending time with family was always filled with laughter, food, games, and a whole lot of love.  Even though Levern did not have children of her own, she loved children.  She baked and shared with friends and family and will always be remembered as the sister and aunt whom made beautiful Angel Christmas ornaments.

She was a member of Salem Reformed Church in Ashley and former member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Fredonia.

Grateful for having shared Levern’s life are her sisters, Della (Duane) Mullner of Aberdeen, Eva Schlepp of Ashley, Mary Jane Wagner of Lead, SD and Diana (Michael) Ritchie of Clements, CA; brother, Hugo Zimmerman of Ashley; and brother-in-law, Ken Childs of Texas.

Levern is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Rolland and Reuben, two brothers, Ervin and Clarence and one sister, Maggie Childs.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Levern’s nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Casketbearers will be Tony Zimmerman, Adam Schlepp, Gus Schlepp, Matt Schlepp, Ben Schlepp, Chris Meyer and Andy Meyer.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Ashley Medical Center or Salem Reformed Church in Ashley.
