She helped on the family farm until her marriage to Henry W. Hoffman on September 23, 1951 at Ashley, ND. They lived on the family farm seven miles west of Venturia where they farmed.

In 1978, Marcella moved to Aberdeen where she worked at Aberdeen Living Center until 1997. She then moved to Ashley, ND. She worked at Ashley Medical Center for four years, before moving back to Aberdeen in 2001. Marcella then worked at McDonald’s until the Fall of 2006. She also worked for Foster Grandparents.
