Ashley, ND-Funeral service for Martha Rudolf, 84, of Ashley will be 11:00 am, Friday, June 12, 2020 at Carlsen Funeral Home in Ashley. Rev. David Irwin will officiate. The service will be live streamed on Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory Facebook page and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Martha's obituary.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Martha died June 8, 2020 at Ashley Nursing Home.
Martha Rudolf, daughter of Peter and Lydia (Eberhart) Rudolf was born December 22, 1935 at her parent's rural farm home seven miles west of Ashley, ND. Here she grew up and attended farm school about three miles from the farm home. When this school was closed, she went to another farm school two miles from the farm home. Grades six through eight, she went to Venturia town school. After finishing the 8^th grade, she helped with the house and farm work. Her mother Lydia, and sister Paulina taught her how to cook and bake which she enjoyed doing. As she grew older, she also helped with the farm work making hay, shocking bundles, milking cows, feeding chickens, and gathering the eggs etc. She also helped with the threshing in the fall. In later years she helped during combining by taking the truck to the field.
In 1984 she, her brother Gottlieb and sister Paulina moved to Ashley. It was here that she took care of her brother and sister until they entered the nursing home and later died. Martha later entered the Ashley Nursing Home where she was active in volunteering by assisting the residents with bingo.
Martha was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Church Circles, which she was a call person for.
Survivors include Martha's cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Lydia, brothers, Alvin and Gottlieb and sister, Paulina.
Casketbearers will be Scott Schlepp, Wayne Schlepp, Orion Rudolph, DeLoris Rudolph and Charles Dockter.
Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
