Opal Bull Obituary

Aberdeen, SD-Private Graveside Service for Opal "Aunt Opal" (Bobzien) Bull, 104, of Aberdeen and formerly of St. Paul, MN will be at Hillside Cemetery, Lester, IA.
Opal died Sunday, October 4, 2020 at her apartment at Primrose Place in Aberdeen with family by her side.
Opal Fern Bobzien was born August 6, 1916 in Clark County, SD to Ernest and Edna (Deardorff) Bobzien. They moved to Forbes, ND in the early 1920's where Opal attended school, graduating in 1934 from Forbes High School with 11 graduates. Following graduation, she worked a variety of jobs until she obtained full time employment with the Forbes Post Office.
Opal married Myron Bull on February 14, 1944. They lived in St. Paul, their entire married life. She worked for Brown and Bigelow and Sperry Univac in the Twin Cities until retirement in 1981. Opal enjoyed reading, walking, dancing, and playing cards. She and Myron were active in their church community, Knox Presbyterian Church.
Myron passed away in 2009 after over 64 years of marriage with Opal. Opal continued to live independently until she turned 99. She moved into assisted living, and received the help needed to continue her independence. Her family decided to have a family reunion on her birthday, starting with her 95th. Family and friends were able to get together each year including this year to help her celebrate.
Aunt Opal is survived by eight nieces and nephews, 22 great nieces and nephews, 27 great-great nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Lamoine, LaRoy and Lacel, sisters-in-law, Luella, and Rosella and one great niece, Heidi.
A special thanks to the Primrose Place staff for their extraordinary caring of her for the past several years.
