Aberdeen, SD-Phyllis Ida Job, 91, of Aberdeen died December 6, 2020 at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. No formal services will be held.
Phyllis Ida, daughter of Albert H. and Cora (Snover) Bruse was born November 7, 1929 at the family home in Aberdeen, SD. As a young girl, she attended public school in Mina, SD. Later, she and her family moved into Aberdeen. She went to work to help support her family, working in a grocery store in west Aberdeen. She earned a GED later in life.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Reinhold Job in 1948 in Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. They made their home in Aberdeen. She worked at Jewett Drug and the Brown County Court House as Deputy Auditor. In 1976 they moved to Watertown where she worked at an Insurance Company for several years. Reinhold retired and they moved to Enemy Swim Lake. Five years later, they moved to Hot Springs, SD. Reinhold died in 2003. In 2016, Phyllis moved to Eureka and in 2019 she moved to Primrose Assisted Living in Aberdeen. In September 2020 she entered Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.
Phyllis enjoyed her winters in Arizona. Sewing was a wonderful pastime of hers and she loved fishing. Over the years she sung with church choirs in Aberdeen and Hot Springs.
Survivors include her son; sister, Nancy (Dean) Karlen of Aberdeen; sisters-in-law, Judie Bruse of Aberdeen and Delores Bruse of Carson City, NV and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Frederick "Bud", Marwin, and Boyd "Chico" and two sisters, Betty Hansen, and Ann Murray.
Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
