Robert Babcock Obituary

Ellendale, ND-Robert "Bob" Jack Babcock, 82, of Ellendale passed peacefully November 29, 2020 at Prince of Peace Care Center in Ellendale after a long struggle with cancer, heart problems, and Covid-19.
Robert was born December 27, 1937, to Earl and Mary (Brandner) Babcock in Ellendale. He graduated from Ellendale High School.
He married Elaine Mills in April of 1969. They divorced in 1980. They had two children, Connie Suzanne, and Steven Laurance Babcock.
Bob learned his carpentry skills from his father and had a natural ability to see how to build and fix things. Besides carpentry, he worked many years at Cenex C-store in Ellendale where he loved waiting on kids. One of them said to her friend, "If you don't have enough money for your candy bar, Bob will take it out of his own pocket for you." There are many stories like that about Coffee Bob, so called because he always had a cup of coffee nearby.
After he retired from Cenex, he worked as night janitor at Ken's Superfair Foods in Aberdeen until the age of 80 when he retired again due to health issues. Bob was known around town for his stories and his kindness. Someone once said, "He will give you the shirt off his back."
Preceding Bob in death were his parents, brothers LeRoy (Ruth), Marvin, and Ambert and sister Blanche (Howard) Bohle, and nephew, Donald Babcock.
Surviving are his former wife, Elaine; daughter, Connie Babcock of Pheasant Lake, ND; son, Steve Babcock of Ellendale; sister-in-law Dorene Babcock of Sioux Falls; nephew, David Babcock of Sioux Falls, and niece, Dori (Perry) Van Watermeulen of Colorado.
There will be no memorial service at this time.
